Neither the boys or girls basketball teams at Chiefland High posted winning seasons in 2007-08, but both used them as building blocks towards future success.
Both teams reminisced at the banquet held Monday, March 17, in the school cafeteria.
The boys were 8-17 in Mark Lundy?s first year as head coach. Lundy is hoping the foundation is laid for a much better 2008-09.
Lundy looked back at the 2007-08 season as an exciting one.
He only had two seniors in Delmar Dial and Casey Brown. Dial grabbed one of the individual awards –the Rebound Award.
Other individual award-winners included Scoring Leader to junior forward/guard Cantrell Richadson, Assists Leader to freshman guard Eugene "Pee Wee"Carter, Field Goal Percentage to junior forward Tommy Sheffield and Free Throw Percentage to junior forward/guard Stephen Davis.
On the girls side, coach Emily Gore and the Lady Indians finished with a record of 1-18. She is hoping a solid core of returning players plus some promising talent up from junior varsity tells a different tale in 2008-09.
Nine girls won awards.
