FHP seeking driver who fled on foot

Four people were injured when a 1993 Ford F-150 pickup traveling north on Northwest 80th Court at a high rate of speed collided with a parked truck setting off a chain reaction series of accidents on Sunday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.


The pickup left the road on the right shoulder and hit an unoccupied, legally parked Ford Ranger in the rear causing it to strike three other occupied, legally parked vehicles.


There were two occupants in two of three damaged vehicles and all four were transported to Shands Hospital at UF in Gainesville with minor injuries.  Injured were:


• Jeffery A Spurr, 27, of Bronson, who was sitting in a Toyota Matrix;


• The driver of a 2013 Dodge Dart was not identified, but the passenger was identified as Brandon A. Riggs, 22, of Chiefland. 


Joshua D. Mauk, 29, of Chiefland, was standing to the side of one vehicle was struck by the vehicle and thrown a few feet. He was transported to Shands by helicopter with serious injuries.  


The driver of the Ford F-150 fled the scene on foot. FHP reports they know the name of the suspect but the person has not been located. 


The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending, according to the report by FHP Trooper Glen Ganus
