Special to the Citizen
During this past “winter season” Hart Springs undertook a huge project to complete the restoration of the retaining wall. In order to bring together the style and unique design that was started the previous year several features were added to the retaining wall including a new beach area and entrance steps. The overall conceptual design was to address safety of guests, protection and preservation of the springs from erosion, and provide handicap accessibility into the springs. The completed project achieved all of this, plus created a beautiful new space around the peninsula, and pedestrian bridge.
Mitchell Gentry, manager of Hart Springs, is credited for the design and construction management of the new retaining wall. He first fell in love with Hart Springs growing up, and is thankful for the opportunity to build the retaining wall that will define Hart Springs for years to come.
