Good News: From an acorn, a revolution grows

-A A +A
By Lou Elliott Jones, Editor

For years now a crescendo has been rising in politics of angry people wanting to stem the tide of this or that.  They rail. They rant. They wave placards.  They talk about bringing back the Bonnie Blue flag of the West Florida rebellion. There's talk of buying guns, learning to shoot straight, hoarding ammunition, stocking up on food and preparing for  a rebellion. No socialism. No liberals. No communists. No health reform. No ACORN. Whoops! Wait! That thing about ACORN. Remember just last year it was so powerful it was credited with registering enough voters — or maybe falsely  registering nonexistent voters — to swing the election? This organization that did grassroots organizing for the poor, low and moderate income folks, was supposed to be a huge threat to American society and its liberal agenda could not be stopped.  Well, that is until a 25-year-old filmmaker and a friend he met on the Internet dressed as a pimp and a madam, stuck  a video camera in a bag and went around to ACORN offices with a story about wanting to set up a prostitution ring with illegal immigrants and needing advice on how to do it.
