A 7-year-old girl died just hours after the SUV she was riding in on U.S. Highway 27A had a right rear tire blow out causing the vehicle to leave the paved road and overturn at 9:40 a.m. on Sunday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. Three passengers, including the girl were ejected from the 2003 Ford Explorer that was westbound on on 27A.
Chloe Paraison, of Pompano Beach, was pronounced dead at 12:56 p.m. by Dr. S. Larson at UF Health's Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Paraison is the 20th traffic fatality in Levy County since Jan. 1.
The driver, Stacyanne James, 30, of Pompano Beach, was hospitalized in critical condition at Shands.
Also injured in the crash were the following passengers:
• Paul Paraison, 64, of Light House Point, was treated for minor injuries at Shands,
• Paul N. Paraison, 3, of Pompano Beach, was treated for minor injuries at Shands,
• LihlyParaison, 6, of Pompano Beach, was treated for minor injuries at Shands,
• Samahri Paraison, 9, of Pomnpano Beach, was hospitalized with critical injuries at Shands.
James, and Paul, Samahri and Chloe Paraison were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Paul N. and Lihly Paraison were wearing seatbelts. James was ejected, as were Samahri and Chloe Paraison. Who were sitting in the third row seat.
No charges have been filed pending the outcome of the investigation by FHP Cpl. A.N. Dobosiewicz.
