Fans of Chiefland football must have hollered on the day after Christmas when, with 10:16 left in the Motor City Bowl against Central Michigan, Florida Atlantic QB Rusty Smith drilled the football into the arms of CHS alum Cortez Gent as he stepped into the left end zone. It was the insurance TD for the Owls, who'd come back from an opening deficit against the favored Chippewas and would go on to win 24-21.
