The second day of a two-day meeting for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission will address an issue of interest to many deer hunters across the state.
The meeting on Feb. 23-24 in Apalachiola begins at 8:30 a.m. and is open to the public. While Day 1 deals with fishing issues, Day 2's agenda focuses on hunting issues and includes an item about the proposed tagging system for deer. A release about the meeting reads, "the Commission will discuss withdrawing the proposal for a tag and reporting system for deer hunting, as well as continuing discussions on alternative systems for gathering deer-harvest data."
The Commission will vote on final rules that affect hunting on specific wildlife management areas, although two affect public hunting statewide.
