The accounts payable clerk for the Town of Inglis has been arrested and charged with taking personal charges on the town's credit card, according to a Levy County Sheriff's press release.
Sheriff's investigators working with auditors from Beauchamp & Edwards accounting firm in Chiefland discovered approximately $23,290.00 of undocumented charges to the towns credit card account.
Town employee Sandra Lambert told Investigator Jay Crooms that she had been charging personal business to the town charge account beginning in September 2009.
The investigation started on Feb. 15 after town officials contacted Inglis Police Chief Steve Dixon to report potential fraud from in the city’s accounts payable division. Dixon requested the assistance of the Levy County Sheriff's Office.
Crooms has filed a criminal charge of "scheme to defraud" with the 8th Judicial State Attorneys Office in Bronson.
