Former mayor to lead Christmas parade

Former Chiefland Mayor Betty S. Walker is scheduled to be the grand marshal of the Christmas & Winter Festival Parade on Dec. 1.

The parade is slated to start at 6 p.m. that Saturday evening at Chiefland High School and travel south on U.S. Highway 19 to South Third Avenue. Santa Claus is set to ride at the end of the parade, and he plans to listen to children's Christmas wishes at Trailhead Park - home of the Chiefland Train Depot.

The leader of the parade this year is a hometown person.
