A Mr. Noel Desmond seems to be the fly in the ointment on several projects important to the people of Levy County.
Project Number One, the Tri-County Hospital that so many people in Levy County have been waiting and praying for. According to Mr. Desmond in the March 10 Citizen, “the vast majority of people in this county are not going to go to this hospital. South Levy County residents would go to Seven Rivers Memorial Hospital; Williston area residents would go to Williston Hospital or Shands or North Florida Regional, both in Gainesville; and Chiefland residents would continue going to the same Gainesville hospital they now go to.”
He's got to be kidding! Why on earth does he think there was ever a reason for wanting a hospital here in the first place? So we wouldn't have to trek so far, for one reason; it would mean more jobs locally, for another.
Project Number Two, the Tarmac King Road Mine. Not that I am in favor of this project myself, but if you are going to try bringing up reasons for not bringing the project to fruition, at least get your facts and information straight.
As I see it, Mr. Desmond is desperately trying to make a big name politically for himself. A three-time candidate for County Commissioner, (3 times and you're out?) and an applicant for a vacancy on the Levy County Commissioners - he certainly won't get my vote.
