Florida writer speaks at CK library

-A A +A

Jeff Klinkenberg, who writes about Florida culture and people, will visit the Cedar Key Public Library at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, to give a program about his unique perspective on his home state. Klinkenberg's talk, part of the library's current "Our Stories" series, will be an entertaining, informative look at some of the state's more colorful people, places and events.

According to his website, Klinkenberg grew up in the Miami area on the edge of the Everglades, where a childhood hobby was catching snakes. He began his journalism career at the age of 16 with the Miami News, and, after graduating from UF, he began a career at the St. Pete Times in 1977.

His latest book, "Pilgrim in the Land of Alligators," was published by University Press of Florida. Other books include "Seasons of Real Florida" and "Land of Flowers." His books are available at the Cedar Key Public Library and other Levy County Library System branches.

Klinkenberg's talk, free and open to the public, will take place in the upstairs meeting room of the Cedar Key Public Library, 460 2nd St., Cedar Key.
