Fifteen Florida College System (FCS) institutions were designated as military-friendly schools, including College of Central Florida which serves Levy County with a campus in Chiefland, according to a new list by Victory Media. The list recognizes the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to recruit and retain military students and their families.

"The Florida College System is proud to provide education, job training and re-training to active duty military, veterans and their families,” said FCS Chancellor Randy Hanna. “This designation recognizes the commitment of our colleges to serving the military community through world-class programs and support services.”

Victory Media prepared the 2014 Military Friendly Schools list using extensive research about on-campus support, academic credibility, veteran student outcomes and student satisfaction. Fifteen FCS institutions received the military-friendly designation.

Other state colleges on the "military friendly" list are:  Broward College,  Florida Gateway College,  Florida State College at Jacksonville,  Gulf Coast State College, Indian River State College,   Miami Dade College, Northwest Florida State College,  Pensacola State College, Santa Fe College, Seminole State College of Florida,      South Florida State College, State College of Florida, Manatee–Sarasota, Tallahassee Community College and Valencia College.
