Local cowboys and cowgirls will be joining the Flying “G” Rodeo Company on Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m. to put on a show at Brookins Arena at Lotoma Ranch to raise money for the Chiefland FFA Alumni Chapter.
In June 2012, Flying “G” held a rodeo competition for Haven Hospice in Callahan and even with the second night cancelled due to foul weather, the company raised $7,000 for programs in the community.
The rodeo took place Friday, June 8 at the Northeast Florida Fairgrounds in Callahan.
Events include barrel racing, bull riding, team roping, chute dogging, calf roping, breakaway, calf scramble for children ages 10 and under and junior barrel racing. Contestants can enter by calling Flying “G” Rodeo Company at 904-845-7492.
Gates open at 6 p.m. at Lotoma Ranch at 12570 N.W. 50th Ave., Chiefland.
Tickets are $10 for adults in advance and $12 at the gate, students $8 and children 5 and under get in free. Advance purchase is available at Chiefland Farm Supply and GreenSouth in Chiefland.
The Alumni are also selling tickets for a New Ranchhand grill guard valued at $600 donated by Reed Automotive. Tickets are $5 each. The drawing will be held during intermission at the rodeo Saturday night. All proceeds benefit the Alumni Chapter. Tickets will be available at the rodeo.
Sponsors for the event are Alliance Dairies, Alliance Grazing, Chiefland Farm Supply and Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union.
The rodeo is a fund raiser for the Chiefland FFA Alumni organization to be able to benefit and support local FFA Chapters.
