Election time

Thursday's issue of the Chiefland Citizen has a snapshot of the candidates in county races as of Tuesday and totals on their latest fundraising and spending.

Judging from the early reports this will be an expensive election. That could explain why so many candidates are going the petition method to get on the ballot.

The Citizen has been busy running candidate announcements and  expect a flurry at the petition deadline in May and the pay-as-you-file deadline in June.

A new feature on the Citizen website is an ELECTIONS 2012 link under the NEWS link at the top of the page.

All the published candidate announcements are there, my earlier column on a few rules that would be good to live by for campaigns is there and coverage of the candidates will also be there.

The information on active candidates and races will stay up through the November election.

The staff at the Citizen hope readers will find the information helpful.

And while we are on the subject, Levy County Supervisor of Elections Connie Asbell has unveiled a new votelevy.com website design that is stunning and packed with information.

I know she is hoping you will find it useful too.
