 Levy Center to offer 

writing workshop

 The College of Central Florida Levy Center is now accepting enrollment for Short Story Fiction Writing Workshop II: Revising and Refining.

 The workshop will meet Tuesdays, Feb. 8 through March 1, from 3-5:30 p.m. The workshop will help participants strengthen their original work by trimming, creating tension and maintaining narrative cohesion. New students may join this workshop and bring any short work they are working on. Participants will continue to create original work in this workshop. The course fee is $65.

Ceramics workshop 

offered at Levy Center

The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer Introduction to Ceramics with master sculptor and art instructor Henry K. Gernhardt Feb. 8 through March 1.

Class will meet on Tuesdays, 1:30- 4:30 p.m., at Gernhardt’s studio, 13951 S.W. 77th Place. The studio is five miles from Cedar Key off County Road 347.

The course fee is $129 and includes all materials except the clay, which will be available for purchase in class. Students should bring four 13-gallon trash bags and a sponge to class. Space is limited.

The course will include the basic techniques of ceramics — hand-building, surface decoration and glaze —as well as an overview of the history of ceramics. Students will have their work glazed and fired during the class. No previous experience is required.
