There was a long line waiting to check in at the new Dollar General store on U.S. Highway 19/27 in Fanning Springs on Saturday morning and nearly everyone checked out the merchandise and more at the grand opening. Store Manager Judy Wert said there were 75 people in line when employees arrived at 6:30 a.m. The ribbon cutting ceremony planned with city and Chamber of Commerce representatives had to be put off as the crowd was eager to get inside and shop with the $10 gift certificates they received. Customers also received complimentary totes and a choice of gifts.
