When reports keep showing Levy County's unemployment rate at 13.6 percent (as it was in August) it may not feel as if things are getting better. But a group of economists in Massachusetts who decide such things say the recession that started in 2007 ended in June 2009. Housing starts were also up in August — nationally. But in Levy County foreclosure sales are up from once a week to three times a week.
I like to look on the bright side of things — commercial land is changing hands and that usually means the housing market and economy will be on the upswing — but I just don't know.
What's you take?
