It was a case of too much big guy for the Chiefland High boys basketball team in its game last Friday night at Dixie County High.
Junior center Tevin Henderson was a one-man wrecking crew, leading the Bears to a 69-60 victory over the Indians.
Dixie improved to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in Class 3A District 5 play. Chiefland fell to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in district action.
Henderson practically did it all for the Bears, as the shorter Indians had trouble containing him.
The big man had 23 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks. Most of Henderson's shots were follows of teammates'misses.
"We didn't do a good job at all boxing out,"said Indian coach Mark Lundy. "We couldn't find him. We just let him roam."
Dixie guard Jimmy Hartsfield also crashed the boards hard, finishing with 10 caroms.
Keeping Chiefland in the game was freshman guard Eugene Carter, who dazzled with 21 points.
"Pee Wee did a great job," complimented Lundy of Carter.
A cold-shooting second quarter put Chiefland in a hole it could never crawl out of.
