A home damaged by fire in January 2012 in the 300 block of Southwest 1st Street was destroyed in a controlled burn by Chiefland Fire Rescue on Monday night at about 9 p.m.
The city has spent two years trying to get the owner of the property to remove the rubble — an eyesore located across the street from the Chiefland Senior Center.
The city's attempts to enforce its code was complicated by issues of ownership and tax problems for the property.
