Staff report
Suncoast Radio, Inc. of Cross City has started broadcasting as WZCC at 1240 AM with broadcasts covering Dixie County and portions of Levy and Gilchrist counties and its new owner says it should sound familiar.
The new station replaces WYNY, which suffered a major transmitter failure nearly a year ago and went off the air.
The music format runs between 1955 and 1985 that will hark back to the days when local stations played a mix of music, something for everyone. Doo-wop to disco, rockabilly to psychedelic, the British invasion to Motown, country classics and of course good old Southern rock, WZCC will have it all.
Requests and dedications, (remember those?) will be taken and played.
Suncoast Radio, a Pinellas County company owned by John Elliott, recently purchased the station from WRGO Radio, LLC. The new owners have begun needed repairs and upgrades to the broadcast facilities. The station has 1000 watts of power 24 hours a day.
