Devonte Tremaine Ocasio, who turned 20 on Tuesday, was formally re-arrested on Tuesday on a six-count indictment delivered by a Levy County Grand Jury on Friday afternoon.
Ocasio is charged in the death of Barry Barney, 36, who died after being shot at the Williston Crabfest. Four other people were injured in the shooting on April 27.
Crabfest began several years ago as a neighborhood cookout and in recent times has grown into an event attended by up to 10,000 people that includes vendors and entertainment. It is billed by promoters as a cultural event for the black community, which occurs every April on County Road 318, east of Williston
The true bill listed the following charges:
• First Degree Homicide,
• Attempted First Degree Murder,
• three counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, and
• Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
A total bond of $3 million was assigned for all of the charges except, First Degree Homicide which has no bond.
Ocasio is in the Levy County Detention Facility.
