Chiefland's head of police will be moving into his ninth year with the city. Commissioners voted unanimously 4-0 Monday night to renew CPD Chief Robert Douglas' contract, noting only a 35-cent increase to his cell phone allowance as the only change from last year. Mayor Teal Pomeroy was absent from the public evaluation.
Douglas, who pulls in about $58,000 as chief, was given high marks on his yearly evaluation, which took place just before his contract approval. His overall composite score out of 5 was 4.39.
