John Pierce, 35, of Cedar Key, was charged on March 4 with five felonies after a traffic stop in Chiefland. Pierce was charged with possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and child neglect.
A passenger in the vehicle, Callie Robinson Pierce, 28, of Cedar Key, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and felony child neglect.
Their vehicle was pulled over when both passenger and driver were not wearing their seat belts. A K-9 search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a black bag containing two pill bottles. Both bottles were prescribed to John Pierce. One contained methadone pills and the other contained Xanex and 20 Oxycodone pills, a schedule two narcotic. Pierce stated that he did not have a prescription for the Oxycodone. Also located in the bag were four .22 magnum hollow point bullets and located behind the seat was a .22 magnum Marlin rifle.
A criminal history check revealed that John Pierce was a convicted felon. A female officer then arrived on the scene and performed a search of Callie Pierce. She was found in possession of a metal round cylinder that contained a substance that field tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.
Both also stated that their 3-year-old son was with them when they traveled to a drug house in Old Town to purchase the drugs. The minor was placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families, who placed the child with his grandfather.
Both John and Callie Pierce were booked into the Levy County Jail.
