Levy County’s business recruiter Amanda Douglas has asked the commission for a better place to meet representatives of businesses interested in moving to Levy County and her boards of directors are backing the move.

Douglas, who has an office in the county Road Department’s maintenance yard, asked the County Commission in its regular meeting Tuesday to consider for space in the Baker Building in Bronson.  Douglas is executive director of the Nature Coast Business Development Council and the Levy County Enterprise Zone Development Agency.

The Baker Building, located on U.S. Highway 27A/State Road 500, is used by the county Library Department and Archive Committee.

“Levy County is on the verge of seeing good, positive growth,” said Skipper Henderson, owner of Levy Abstract & Title Co. and chairman of the EZDA board. “It’s time to put your economic development out front.”

Businessman Walt McJordan of Cedar Key, a member of the EZDA board, backed Douglas’ request. “We would like a place to hang our hat that would say a bit more than where we are now.”
