County tourism group meeting
The Levy County Tourist Development Council will have its bi-monthly meeting at 6 p.m. at the Levy County Visitors Bureau, 620 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson. The meeting is open to the public.
Yankeetown-Inglis Woman's Club
The Yankeetown-Inglis Woman's Club on 56th Street is hosting bingo on Thursdays. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games start at 7 p.m. There will be homemade pies and cakes, plus a $100 jackpot.

Free bluegrass in Old Town
The Dixie County Historical Society will be hosting another evening of Bluegrass and Bluegrass Gospel music for your enjoyment from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Old Town Elementary School Auditorium located at SR. 349 and CR 55A. There will be Big Cypress Bluegrass and other bands, including Old Tyme Way, performing. Admission is free, so bring the family.

Dunnellon library friends sale
Friends of the Library for the Dunnellon Public Library are having a Christmas Book Sale. The Half-Price Sale will run through Dec. 22. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. All proceeds benefit the Dunnellon Public Library.
The Friends Books Store at 20351 Robinson Road, Dunnellon, will be closed Dec. 24-26 for the holidays.

American Legion bingo
American Legion Post 91 bingo game held weekly at 7 p.m. is open to Tri-County Area residents. The Post 91 bingo hall is smoke-free and no alcohol is served. Proceeds support programs for veterans and youth in the community. The post is located on U.S. Highway 129 between the towns of Trenton and Bell (across the highway from the “Field of Dreams”).

SHINE has Medicare answers
A SHINE volunteer with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs will visit the Chiefland Senior Center from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. The SHINE volunteer can assist Medicare recipients in making the best informed decision for the 2013 Medicare Part D Drug Plan or Medicare Advantage Plan. There will be a short presentation followed by individual counseling. SHINE provides free, unbiased, and confidential counseling. Low Income Medicare beneficiaries should ask about Extra Help (LIS) to help pay for 2013 Medicare Prescription Drug Plan costs.
Each Medicare recipient should being their Medicare Card, the 2012 Plan card (if any), and all prescription drug bottles, or a 90-day listing of prescriptions from a pharmacy.

Candlelight remembrance of loved ones
An evening of music, hope, and healing is the theme for the 2012 Hope Illuminates Candlelight Remembrance...to Honor the Memory of our Loved Ones. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services at 1301 N. Young Blvd., Chiefland. The remembrance will include an inspirational speaker, memorial video tribute and interactive candle lighting followed by a cookie and hot chocolate social. Christmas book sale at the Bronson Library
Looking for a gift for an avid reader? Or a little something to read over Christmas vacation?
Head to the Bronson Library from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the book sale. Hardback books will be selling for 50 cents and paperbacks, children's books and videos will be sold for 10 cents each.
All proceeds will be used by the Friends of the Bronson Library for special programs and

Christmas bazaar, pancake breakfast
Parsons Memorial Presbyterian Church at 5850 Riverside Drive, Yankeetown, is having a Christmas Bazaar and Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. The congregation will be selling handmade crafts, books and a pancake breakfast for $4 per person. The breakfast includes pancakes, bacon or sausage and beverage.

Lighthouse open for holidays
Celebrate the holidays on Seahorse Key at the free open house hosted by Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge and the Friends of the Refuge.
There will be historians in period dress and the opportunity to visit the light station which site on the highest point in the Gulf of Mexico.
The light station is open Saturday, Dec 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 29, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Visitors must obtain their own transportation to the island via private vessel or tour boat departing from Cedar Key.
Senior Citizen Center activities

CK Keyhole Gallery
The Cedar Key Keyhole, 457 2nd Street (across from the Library) in Cedar Key, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and maintains a display of many works by more than 20 contributors to its artists’ cooperative. These works include paintings (oils, acrylics, pastels and watercolors), metal works, stained glass, jewelry, fiber arts, leatherwork, pottery and woodworking, among others. Looking for a fun way to get in your exercise? Look into the Yankeetown-Inglis Woman's Club where everyone is invited to join in Zumba. The invigorating classes, open to the public, are Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. and Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. All in air conditioned comfort and yes classes will continue through the summer. Busy Bees meet at Old Town United Methodist Church on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 1-3 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. There will be crafting, quilting, crocheting, knitting and all kinds of needle and handwork. There are different materials to share if you would like to learn. Busy Bees donates hats, lap robes and other items made to organizations and those in need. Novices are welcome, as well as, experienced crafters.
