Legion Post 91 meeting
American Legion Post 91 wants to remind members and all veterans in the Tri-County area of its meeting that starts at 5:30 p.m. with a donation dinner and meeting after. The post is on State Road 129 between Trenton and Bell, next to the FFA arena. Guests are welcome for the dinner.
Ombudsman program seeks volunteers
The local council of Florida's Long-Term Care Ombudsman program meets at 12:30 p.m. at Haven Hospice of North Central Florida, 4200 NW 90th Boulevard in Gainesville to discuss the program’s current activities and give the public a chance to provide comments about long-term care facility issues. Concerned citizens and those interested in volunteering are welcome to attend. The council is seeking additional volunteers to identify, investigate and resolve residents' concerns. Legion sponsors Easter Dinner
American Legion Post 383, Old Town, will host an Easter Dinner at 1 p.m. This is for veterans and their families who do not have families with which to spend the holiday or who wish to spend it with the Legion Family. Bring a dish to share, if you wish. Ham will be furnished. So come out and spend the afternoon with us.
Friends' book sale
A book sale by the Friends of the Dunnellon Library will be in the Dunnellon Library Meeting Room, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Prices: Hardcover, 50 cents; Paperbacks, 25 cents; and Saturday only, a “bag of books" for $4. The library is at 20351 Robinson Rd, Dunnellon. For information, call 352-438-2520. Naval Sea Cadets recruiting in Dunnellon

Deaf/Hearing Impaired Club meets
The Deaf/Hearing Impaired Club of Levy County will be meeting 5-7:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bronson. All family members and friends of the deaf/hearing impaired are invited, too. Vendors, contestants sought for Watermelon Festival
The 57th Annual Chiefland Watermelon Festival's sponsor, the Chiefland Woman's Club, is looking for local craft vendors and taking applications for all watermelon pageants.
For the first time the club is offering a $500 scholarship to the 2011 Chiefland Watermelon Queen.

Dixie Humane Society sale

Heart of the Hammock Humane Society
The Heart of the Hammock Humane Society, located in the old Carr’s Furniture building at 9599 N.E.
