Business Council

The Nature Coast Business Development Council, Inc. will hold its Board of Directors meeting Thursday, May 7 at 8:30 a.m. at 660 North Hathaway Ave. (SR 27-in the old road dept. conference room,) Bronson.

Williston Lions Club

Williston Lions Club will meet  Thursday, May 7 at 6 p.m.  For those of you who have been contemplating joining, this is your chance to find out what the Lions are all about.

Shrine Craft Sale

The ladies of Suwannee River Shrine Club will be holding a Mother’s Day craft, yard, and bake sale on Friday, May 8, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 9, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the clubhouse on SR 26.

First Annual Tri-County Career Day

The Ben Roberts Care Center, Inc will hold its 1st Annual Tri-County Career Day activity on Saturday, May 9 starting at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Tommy Usher Pineland Center, SW 5th Street, Chiefland.

The Center is asking any business or agency who can provide information on employment and career information to please participate with them in this endeavor. There is no charge to set up your business or provide information on furthering someone’s career. This event is free to the public.

There will be raffle tickets for prizes and a donation area for anyone who would like to donate to the Ben Roberts Scholarship fund. If any business would like to provide prizes for the raffles, the Ben Roberts Care Center, Inc. is a 501 (C) (3) tax exempted cooperation.

Annual Zukefest

The 25th Annual Zukefest will be held on May 9, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the fire station in Windsor (1401 SE CT RD 234, Gainesville.) All proceeds go to the WVFD.

Foods available include fried zucchini, zucchini bread, barbecue chicken and many veggies.  There will be rides, magic show, beauty pageant, fun run and activities all day.

All World War II veterans  (current members) are invited to speak to students at Branford High School on May 14.

Dan Taylor has made arrangements for the visit to the school and you should have received your monthly letter with instructions for that day.

SRWMD Meeting

On Thursday, May 14, the Suwannee Rive Water Management District’s Governing Board will meet at 9 a.m. at Otter Springs Park and Campground, Springhouse Lodge, 6470 SW 80th Ave, Trenton.

The meeting is to consider District business and conduct public hearings on regulatory and land acquisition matters. A workshop held at the Cedar Key Public Library. 460 2nd St., Cedar Key will follow the meeting.

The William Crow AMVETS Post 447 will host a fund-raising dinner from 2-6 p.m. May 16.

The menu consist of roast beef, baked potato, a side dish and dessert for an $8 do nation.

Free Diabetes Testing

Southeast Clinical Research, LLC is conducting a free HgbA1c check for diabetic patients Tuesday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CVS Pharmacy in Chiefland.

The city of Chiefland Emergency Management Committee will meet on May 20 at 4 p.m. at city hall.

Post 91 Meeting/Dinner

The American Legion Post 91 will have its monthly meeting May 21. A donation dinner will start at 5:30 p.m. and will consist of  chicken and dumplings. Members are asked to bring a dessert to share with the other members and visitors. The regular meeting will start a 7 p.m. The post is located on State Rd. 129 between Trenton and Bell.

Beef Cook-Off

The Annual Beef Cook-Off Contest, sponsored by Levy County Cattlewomen will be held at the Ranch Rodeo, May 23 in Williston.

Team entry fee is $50 per team (or individual) and prize money is 50 percent of entry fees.

AL Grand Opening

The grand opening of the American Legion Post 91-Trenton will be held Saturday, June 13 at 4200 N. 129 (next to FFA Arena.)

There will be a Flea Market and vendors are needed.  There will be no alcohol and no guns or ammo sold.

Classic Car Show

Tri County CFGC and Chiefland Flea Market will be holding their 1st Annual Classic Car Show Saturday, July 11. Registration is from 9 a.m. to  noon. Pre-register by July 3  and the entry fee is $15 and day of show entry fee is $20. Make checks payable to Tri-County CFGC, 482 NE 316 Ave., Old Town, FL 32680. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m. Dash plaques will be given to first 50 vehicles.

Activities include Welcome, Top 20, 50/50, food and drinks, arts and crafts, vendors, door prizes. There will be separate judging for each category that includes: Classics, Late Models, Imports and Motorcycles.
