The 63rd Annual National Day of Prayer was celebrated — with a prayer for the country and its citizens — on May 1 at noon at Chiefland City Hall around the flag pole out front.
The Day of Prayer is held the first Thursday in May and was enacted by Congress in 1952 as a request that people "turn to God in prayer and meditation." It is celebrated by Christians, Muslims, Sikhs and Jews, to name but a few faiths.
