The 63rd Annual National Day of Prayer was celebrated — with a prayer for the country and its citizens — today at noon at Chiefland City Hall around the flag pole out front.
The Day of Prayer is held the first Thursday in May and was enacted by congress in 1952 as a request that people "turn to God in prayer and meditation." It is celebrated by Christians, Muslims, Sikhs and Jews, to name but a few.
