Darby Allen, principal at Chiefland Middle School, has been chosen to take over as principal at Cedar Key School starting with the 2013-2014 school year.
She will not be replaced at the helm of the school that has earned an “A” grade for six years. Her duties will be absorbed by Chiefland High School Principal Matt McLelland. The arrangement is similar to that in Bronson where John Lott is principal of the middle/high school.
Allen will replace Dan Faircloth at Cedar Key. He was named principal for this school year after longtime principal Sue Ice retired at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.
Allen has been principal since 2009 at CMS and was assistant principal at CMS prior to that.
Chris Cowart, of Cedar Key, who represents District 4, which includes the CK School, said, “We are excited to have a bright shining star like Darby Allen coming to Cedar Key and we look forward to a very bright future with a person who works very hard to make sure the students and staff are successful.”
