Alexander, Lourcey top graduates of Class of 2014

By The Staff

Kelsi Alexander is the valedictorian and Danielle Lourcey is the salutatorian for Chiefland Middle High School's Class of 2014.

The two young women were notified of the honors by Principal Matt McLelland and Guidance Counselor Christie McElroy on Monday afternoon at the school.  Both told McLelland they will be attending Santa Fe College after graduation.

As is tradition, their parents were notified of the selection ahead of time, so they could celebrate the announcement with their scholars. Alexander is the daughter of Jackie and Rob Alexander. Lourcey is the daughter of Annette and John Lourcey.

And in what is also a tradition, School Board Member Paige Brookins of Chiefland was there for the announcement and celebration.

The two young women were presented with cakes and a balloon, not to mention hugs and kisses all around.

They were also given the opportunity to take the afternoon off from school to celebrate with their families.
