Chiefland High School is once again proud of one of their own, now that 11th grader Hailey Gerhardt has been chosen as one of only 70 students throughout the state for her achievement in science, technology, engineering or math - also known as the STEM.
The criteria for the honor makes up a long list and includes community service hours, SAT and ACT scores, AP/DE participation and GPA’s. In Hailey’s case, she is a 4.0 student, is enrolled in Dual Enrollment courses, participates in community service, as well as, student government activities.
Hailey was honored Tuesday morning at the Levy County School Board meeting, which she attended with her parents and received a crystal plaque award, before heading off to classes. Hopefully the principal didn’t give her detention time for being late.
