Eighteen marching bands from throughout the entire state of Florida converge at North Marion High School’s Stan Toole Memorial Stadium for an all-day event on this Saturday, Nov. 12.
The Marching Band Festival begins at 11 a.m. with gates opening 30 minutes earlier. Competition takes place throughout the day except during the lunch hour from 2-3 p.m. Preliminary Awards will begin at 5 p.m.. Dinner will be from 5-7 p.m. with finals performances of the Top 10 bands beginning at 7 p.m. Finals award presentations will take place at 10 p.m. after the exhibition performance from North Marion.
Participating high schools include Chiefland, Newberry, Belleview, Dixie County, Gainesville-PK Yonge, Weeki Wachee, Orlando-Oak Ridge, Crystal River, South Daytona Beach-Warner Christian, Eustis, Inverness-Citrus, Lake City-Columbia, Daytona Beach-Seabreeze, Gainesville, Mount Dora, Gainesville-F.W. Buchholz, Alachua-Santa Fe and North Marion High Schools.
Bands range from Class A to Class AAAAA, including groups with 100-plus members marching in the competition.
Admission tickets are available at the gate for $10. Marion County student tickets are $7. Children 7 and under are free.
