Chiefland Women's Golf Association update - Oct. 7

By Marialle Leonard

On Sept. 29, the Chiefland Women's Golf Association had 19 ladies play, even though the forecast called for a big chance of rain. We were successful in completing a game where the players are placed into flights according to their like handicaps, and the winners are the ones who play well enough to subtract their handicaps from their total scores, thus giving them the lowest net scores.
In the First Flight, Linda Buchanan had the lowest net score to win the first place prize. The Second Flight was won by Lorraine Nickolls, who came in with the lowest net score of 69. This was the lowest net score of all nineteen players. During her round, Lorraine also added a chip-in on hole  No. 10 for a par, which allowed her to also share in the chip-in prize.  Second prize in the Second Flight went to Betty Tillis. Third prize was a tie between Mary Lindsay and Jan Hendrix. Jan also shared in the chip-in prize with a great chip-in  on No. 3.
The Third Flight had three ladies all come in with the same net score to tie for the first place spot. They were: Betty Beck, Denise Boyle and Linda Waddelow. The size of each flight determines how many prizes are given out.
Arma Beauchamp was the third player to come in with a chip-in.  She accomplished this feat on hole No. 7 and was the third player to share in this prize.
On Oct. 4, our association had 10 of our members going to the Lake City Country Club to compete in our second Gator Golf outing. Look for updates next week.
Call 493-2375 for further information about our group.  We may not always play well, but we sure have a great time with plenty of exercise.
