On Oct. 13, the Chiefland Women's Golf Association had 20 members play the first round of a two-round tournament. The second game was played on Oct. 20.
This competition is called “Eclectic,” since the second score is kept on the same card that was used this week. After the two rounds are complete, each player will choose the lowest score on each hole and then deduct their full handicap.
The winners of this tournament will be announced after completion of both rounds. We had nine ladies come in with a chip-in during their round. This is a record number of winners who will split the chip-in “kitty.” Carol Healy, Babs Powell and Marilee Leonard had chip-ins that resulted in a birdie.
Barbara Zumwalt, Betty Butler, Pat Renaud, Jan Hendrix, Freida Martin and Denise Boyle all had chip-ins during their day of play. The greens are a lot faster than normal, so not having to putt on a slippery green is fantastic.
