A 49-year-old Chiefland  woman died in a two-car collision at the intersection of County Road 346A and U.S. Highway 129 at 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.

Teresa Reed Riedel, 49, of Chiefland, died in the accident while Sandra Vanessa Elviro, 19, of Fanning Springs was seriously injured. Elviro was transported to Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Riedel was headed north on U.S. 129 in her 2009 Kia Spectra while Elviro was headed east on CR 346A when she failed to stop at the intersection. Elviro's vehicle struck the left side of Riedel's car, rotated, left the road and came to rest in brush, while Riedel's car left the road and stopped moving when it became wedged between two trees.

Elviro was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and the results of an alcohol test are pending.

Riedel was wearing her seat belt.

No charges have been filed pending the outcome of the investigation by FHP Cpl. W. Dill.
