Chiefland dominated the opening round of the first-annual Levy County World Series. The event, featuring five area U-10 teams, completed the first round of a double-elimination tournament at the Bronson Youth League baseball fields on Sat. June 23. Chiefland won it’s games 15-1 over Citra and 18-1 over the Chiefland “Tribe”.
Chiefland will play in the championship game on Tues., June 26 at 7 p.m.
The event was thought of about a month ago, said B.Y.L president Joe Markham. He said the U-10 division created the perfect number of teams for the inaugural tournament. He said he hopes the event will grow and attract more teams in the future.
