A 24-year-old Chiefland man has been arrested and charged with felony lewd and lascivious offense of a disabled person and misdemeanor battery following an incident on Feb. 9.

Marvin Laquan Dunmore was arrested on Feb. 17 and booked into the Levy County Jail after an investigation into the incident. A female victim who reported the incident positively identified Dunmore, whom she did not know previously, out of a photo lineup. The victim was walking northbound on Main Street when the victim approached her from behind and began making lewd and vulgar comments to the victim. The victim repeatedly tried to disengage from Dunmore, who remained “persistent” according to the report. As they approached Chiefland High School, Dunmore allegedly grabbed the victim’s hand and forced her to touch his crotch. Dunmore then exposed himself to the victim before she reached the school to escape Dunmore’s presence.

The lewd and lascivious charge was filed under statute 825.1025 because it was committed upon a mentally disabled person.

Dunmore recently was released from state prison and has a “lengthy past history of violent and criminal behavior, especially with the female gender” according to the report. He last was released on July 21, 2010, after serving 18 months of a two-year sentence for resisting an officer with violence.
