One thing has become evident as Chiefland High has marched through the 2007 football season.
The Indians have had to try and stop some mighty fine running backs.
It?uncanny how almost everyone on the schedule has small, strong, durable, shifty and quick backs who can seemingly break off a long one at any given moment.
It?almost like they? cloned.
Let?go through the schedule:
P.K. Yonge,Dre Maddox ,233 yards against the Indians.
Trinity Catholic , Derrick Dempsey , 203 yards.
Newberry , Antwan Ivey, 127 yards.
Williston ,Travis Evans , 126 yards.
Dixie , Rodney Scott, 150 yards.
"This has to be the best area in the state for the number of quality running backs,"Indian head coach Ajay Ulmer said."They can play and excel at any school."
While the above schools employ one feature back, Chiefland opts to spread the load among three ?chael Durr, Stephen Davis and Tommy Sheffield.
Ulmer will only lose Durr to graduation.
By the way, Durr had a super second half against P.K. Yonge, rushing for 57 yards on seven carries. He didn?carry the ball in the first half.
