The Chiefland Chamber of Commerce is looking for participation from local businesses, families or clubs for their first “Scarecrow City” on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. till noon, with an awards ceremony to follow. The contest will take place at Trailhead Park by the Chiefland Train Depot on U.S. Highway 19 and Southeast 2nd Avenue.
There will be food, fun, and games for kids and prizes to be given away for the most creative scarecrows.
The scarecrows will be on display from Oct. 16 through Nov. 27. The registration fee is $25.00. Contest rules call for the display to fit in a 5-by-5-foot space and be mostly made from recycled materials. There are also other rquirements.
