Three games, three wins via the mercy rule, one District 6 championship for the Chiefland 13-15 year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars.
It was almost too easy for manager Kyle Parnell?s boys, who outscored their opponents by a combined 34-3 margin in the tournament played at Strickland Park.
Chiefland opened with an 11-1 victory over Gainesville on Friday. Then on Saturday morning, Chiefland mauled Bradford A, 11-0.
That set up the final Saturday evening against Bradford B.
It was more of the same, as Chiefland ran awy with a 12-2 decision.
Having a memorable tournament was Jacob Reidy, who hit home runs against Gainesville and Bradford B and threw a perfect game against Bradford A.
Reidy blasted his first homer in the first inning against Gainesville. Also scoring on the shot to right-center was Brent Slaughter.
Slaughter was the winning pitcher in that game, firing a three-hitter over five frames. He also had a home run, double and single.
Josh Martinez had a triple. Shannon Wilson had a double. Marquis Green had two singles.
The game against Bradford A also went five frames.
Reidy had another fiorst inning homer against Bradford B.
Kaleb Caplin was 3-for-3. Parrish Parnell was 3-for-4. Green and Martinez each doubled.
Chiefland used two pitchers in the final. Bo Beauchamp went the first two innings and Green followed with three strong frames.
The Chiefland All-Stars must now wait until July 17 when North State Tournament play begins in Tallahassee. The locals will most certainly get some competition there.
