Seven teams will be vying for the Babe Ruth 13-15 year-old State Championship in Tallahassee July 17-20.
The tournament will be played at Godby High.
Kyle Parnell's Chiefland All Stars will be one of those teams off of an impressive performance in the District 6 Tournament a couple of weeks ago.
Other teams competing include Mandarin, Green Cove Springs, Fort Caroline, Lake City, Wakulla and host Tallahassee.
Chiefland's opening assignment is Wakulla at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 17. If Chiefland wins, it will play at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 18. In they lose, they'll play at 7 p.m. July 18.
The tournament is double elimination.
There is a banner being made up that will tout the team and its players. It will make the trip to Tallahassee and later will be put up at Srickland Park.
Players are recruiting local businesses to be featured on the banner. The cost is $100.
