There have been very few occasions in my lifetime where I can say I was astounded by the selflessness of my neighbors. We live in a society where helping others is often not a priority.
I hope that now will be one of those occasions where I am astounded by the generosity of the people in Chiefland. Through May 11 we will be accepting donations at the front office of Chiefland High School for those affected by the tornados in Alabama.
Items in desperate need are food (non-perishable), clothing (any sizes), toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, baby supplies, school supplies, sunscreen and hand sanitizer.
We have High School students who will personally take the items collected to Alabama. There are currently over 5,000 displaced people in Tuscaloosa, Ala., alone. Please consider donating.
