The Greater Area Chiefland Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a ribbon cutting and grand opening for one of its newest members The Hop Shop. On Saturday, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the public is invited to join in the festivities. There will be food, fun and assorted bouncy rides for all ages. The Hop Shop will be hold the event at Trailhead park located at 22 S.E. 2nd Ave., Chiefland. The Hop Shop specializes in inflatable games, and assorted bouncy rides.
The Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a grand opening for Western Wishes on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The public is invited to welcome Western Wishes, located at 9691 N.W. CR 345, Chiefland to our community. Western Wishes specializes in western attire .
Please take some time to welcome these new businesses and Chamber members to the community.
Three volunteers worked at the Williston Peanut Festival and passed out over 500 flyers about the Pumpkin Festival and 110 vendor applications.
The trio also signed up several new Chamber members and sponsors. In order to make the Chamber's Oct. 31 Pumpkin Festival successful, a few elements are needed:
1. Ask your wives, friends, your moms, your grand-moms, your neighbors if they would enter one of our contests:
a. Bake a yummy dessert to be auctioned off in the dessert auction
b. Bake pumpkin pies for the pie baking contest
c. Make any Pumpkin cookie, cake, bread, etc. and donate it to the Chamber to sell at the Festival
2. Enter the Pumpkin Carving Contest
a. Pumpkins will be sold at the Chamber fund-raising yard sale on Saturday, Oct. 17 in front of Affordable Solutions in Bronson
3. The Chamber needs door prizes. Anything you can offer that can be raffled at the festival or used as a small prize.
Email the Chamber with a pledge of support to participate in one or more of these fund-raisers.

The Dixie Music Extravaganza will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. across from the weigh station on U.S. Highway 19 in Old Town.
There will be music all day, drawings for some great prizes and more, and it is free to the public.
The Fanning Springs Chamber will be selling raffle tickets for donated items for the Festival of Lights which includes an electric guitar from Dixie Music, a beautifully carved bench from Point of View and a nice chair from Toy for Tots.
The Chamber needs volunteers to help serve and deliver lunches for a yard sale and barbecue pork lunch on Friday, Oct. 23 at Bear's Den Parking Lot, intersection of U.S. Highway 19 and State Road 26.
