 Spanish for health care workers course

 The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer Conversational Spanish for Health Care Workers Thursday, Aug. 25-Sept. 29, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The center is located at 114 Rodgers Blvd, Chiefland. The course fee is $119. The textbook with two audio CDs may be purchased at the first class; the cost is approximately $30.

   This course will help medical staff communicate simply but effectively with Spanish-speaking patients and their families. There are no grammar, verb conjugations or complicated rules to learn. No prior Spanish experience is necessary.

   The enrollment deadline is Thursday, Aug. 18. Students may enroll in person at the Levy Center or online at CFItraining.cf.edu (select Levy noncredit classes). For more information call Joleen Gonzalez at 352-493-9533, ext. 2106.

 

CF Levy Center to offer computer courses for seniors

   The College of Central Florida Levy Center will offer three computer courses designed just for seniors. These courses start with the basics and advance at a comfortable pace with the beginner in mind. The classes will meet on Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m. at the CF Levy Center, 114 Rodgers Blvd., Chiefland.

   Computers for Seniors I will meet Sept. 2-16. Students will learn the basics beginning with an overview of the computer software systems, Internet usage, email and Windows. No prior computer experience is necessary. The fee is $45.

   Computers for Seniors II will meet Sept. 23-Oct. 7. Students will learn how to organize and customize a desktop, search the Internet more efficiently, perform downloads, cut and paste, and use Help features. Some basic computer knowledge is required. The fee is $45.

   Computers for Seniors III will meet Oct. 14-28. This course introduces Microsoft Word and Publisher.    Students will learn how to create greeting cards, business cards, brochures, letters and more. The fee is $45.
