Camp Safe Haven to help teens cope with loss

-A A +A

Sadness, anger, confusion — these are some of the feelings people experience when dealing with grief.  However, children, teens and adults do not grieve in the same way, so a different counseling approach is needed.

Haven Hospice’s Healing Hearts program will host Camp Safe Haven for children  9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, at Camp Kulaqua, 23400 N.W. 212 Ave. in High Springs. The day camp is designed for children ages six to 12 who have lost a loved one.  The camp provides fun and therapeutic activities to help children work through their grief.  It is also an opportunity to share experiences with other children.

Camp Safe Haven is offered by Haven Hospice and there is no cost to attend. However, registration is required and space is limited.  Lunch and snacks will be provided.  For more information or to register for Camp Safe Haven, contact Vonceil Levine, MSW, at 352-692-5105 or 800-727-1889.
