Michael Pitts, former owner of Pitts Custom Glass, Inc., in Chiefland, faces two felony charges related to a failure to file six tax returns, and four misdemeanor charges of refusing to file returns and and pay taxes.
Pitts, a resident of Ocala, was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff's Office. If convicted he could face up to five years in prison and up to $5,000 in fines and repayment of investigative costs,
Pitts is charged with collecting tax from his customers and between 2009 and 2010 failing to file returns and pay the collected tax to the state. He faces four misdemeanors.
The business located at 7620 N.W. 115th Street, has been closed.
Pitts was released on $5,000 bond.
