About $2,300 worth of brass fittings and tools were stolen from Bronson's public works facility, located near the Old Bronson High School, according to the Levy County Sheriff's Office.
The theft was reported by town employees May 3 after discovering a steel door on the facility ripped from its hinges.
"One of my guys went over to get something, called me and said, 'Jimmy, somebody's broken the door off the thing,' " said Jimmy Dunford, public works administrator for the town.
Sheriff's office spokesperson Lt. Scott Tummond said the burglary most likely occurred the night before.
In addition to the brass fittings for water pipes, an $840 drill was also stolen, according to Dunford.
Tummond said the case is still under investigation, though detectives have a lead on a suspect.
