By Lou Elliott Jones, Editor

A 15-year-old New Port Richey boy is charged with manslaughter in the stabbing death of a man on Saturday at Horse Hole Creek Mud Bog near Inglis, according to the Levy County Sheriff's Office.
Roderic L. Sparks, 24, of Crystal River, was pronounced dead at Seven Rivers Memorial Hospital in Crystal River where he was taken following an altercation at the mud pit.
Christopher Sutherlin Jr., 15, is charged with manslaughter and incarcerated at the Levy County Jail. State law allows the publication of a juvenile's name when charged with a felony.
Witnesses told deputies when they arrived that Sparks was revving his engine and Christopher Sutherlin Sr., father of the suspect, told him to stop. When Sparks failed to do so, Sutherlin Sr.  threw a beer can at Sparks' truck.
Sparks got out of the truck and a fight ensued between the two.  When Sparks started to get the best of the father in the fight, the son jumped in and stabbed Sparks in the ribs on the left side, according to the arrest report.
