This is the story from the school board meeting on May 8. The minutes were officially approved during the May 22 meeting.
Levy County School Board Superintendent Bob Hastings recommended the suspension without pay of Williston Elementary School Head janitor Dennis Solowski. It was approved in the board's May 8 meeting 5-0 without debate.
Solowski's vehicle was searched by the Levy County sheriff's department on May 3. The officer discovered three firearms in the vehicle and Solowski was subsequently arrested. He was suspended one day with pay before Hastings' recommendation to the board.
Hastings said all school employees sign forms upon employment that explicitly bans the possession of fire arms on campus. Violation of school board code 6.11 leads to termination. Hastings said Solowski will be suspended for 21 days, beginning on May 8 and his employment will , pending appeal or petition, be terminated during the school board meeting after the duration of the designated time period.
